How to ship your car to Arizona
- Request a free quote with your pickup and delivery ZIP codes, your vehicle, and your date window.
- We review carriers for your route and confirm the carrier, the total price, and the pickup window with you in writing.
- The carrier picks up your car after a joint inspection, and you travel to Arizona however you like.
- You or someone you name meets the driver, checks the car, and signs the delivery inspection.
Starting in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, or elsewhere in the Midwest? The steps are the same. Send us your ZIP codes.
Picking up in Chicago and the suburbs
A full car carrier cannot fit down most Chicago side streets or alleys, and many neighborhoods restrict large trucks. Plan to meet the driver on a wide street or in a big parking lot nearby. If your car is in a condo or high-rise garage, confirm clearance, access hours, and who can release it before pickup day.
Suburban and downstate pickups are usually easier, but HOA rules and winter weather still apply. A plowed driveway or lot keeps things on schedule.
Delivery in the Phoenix area and Tucson
Many winter homes in the Valley and around Tucson are in gated or 55+ communities with rules about large vehicles. Check whether a carrier can enter, and let the gate know when the car is coming. Otherwise the driver can meet you at the entrance or a nearby lot.
Desert sun is hard on a car that sits outside. If you will not be driving it much, plan for covered parking or a car cover once it arrives.
Seasonal timing and the trip home
Demand from the Midwest to Arizona typically rises in the fall and early winter, and the return trip north gets busier in spring. Book early for those waves and give us a flexible pickup window. Planning the spring return to Illinois, Michigan, or Minnesota? Ask about it when you book; we quote each direction separately.
Open or enclosed transport
Open transport works for most cars and usually costs less. Enclosed transport adds protection from weather and dust for classics and high-value cars. Compare open and enclosed car shipping.
What it costs and when you pay
Free quote. Your price is an estimate until a carrier accepts your order, and it never goes up without your OK. How pricing works
No payment is collected until the carrier or driver confirms in writing. The agreed spot reservation amount is due to BladeHaul after that confirmation, before pickup. The remaining carrier balance is paid directly to the carrier. Together, these make up your total price, and your written transport agreement sets out the amounts and terms. Read how booking and payment work.
BladeHaul Auto Transport LLC is an FMCSA-authorized property broker, MC-85480782 (USDOT 6803480). We arrange your transport with independent motor carriers; the carrier you approve handles the physical move.
Common questions
How much does it cost to ship a car from Chicago to Arizona?
Your price depends on the exact pickup and delivery locations, the vehicle, open or enclosed transport, and the season. Our car shipping cost guide explains the factors and what industry surveys report. Request a free quote for your route. Your quote is an estimate based on current market prices for similar shipments on your route. It can change until a carrier accepts your order, but never without your OK, and you can cancel at no charge if you don't agree. Once a carrier is confirmed, your price is locked in with that carrier. If that carrier cancels, any new price needs your OK too. No hidden fees.
How much does it cost to ship a car 1,000 miles or more?
Longer trips cost more in total but usually less per mile. The cost guide covers how distance affects price; your quote is based on your actual route and dates.
What is the cheapest way to ship a car?
Choose open transport, keep your pickup dates flexible, book ahead of the seasonal rush, and meet the driver somewhere easy for a large truck to reach.
Is it cheaper to drive or ship your car?
Driving from Illinois to Arizona takes a few days each way. Add fuel, hotels, meals, and wear on your car, for both directions if you return in spring, and compare that with a shipping quote.
