Shipping a car from Michigan to Florida
The drive from Michigan to Florida is long, and much of it follows I-75 straight down through Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia. Shipping lets you skip those days on the road, especially in late fall when snow can arrive before you leave.
Starting in Ohio, Indiana, or elsewhere in the Midwest works the same way. Send your pickup and delivery ZIP codes and we will check carriers for your route.
Pickups in a Michigan winter
Cold-weather pickups need a little extra planning. A plowed driveway or a cleared parking lot lets a large carrier reach your car. If your street is narrow or has a steep grade, a nearby store lot is a safer meeting point. Check that the battery is healthy, since a car that will not start in the cold takes longer to load.
Road salt and slush hide scratches. Wash the car shortly before pickup if you can, and take photos in good light, so the inspection report reflects its real condition.
Delivery in Florida
Whether you are going to Naples, Fort Myers, Sarasota, Tampa, Orlando, or the Atlantic coast, gated communities and condo rules are common. Ask whether car carriers can enter, and let the gate know a delivery is coming. If you will arrive after the car, name someone to meet the driver and sign the delivery inspection.
Timing your trip south and back
Southbound demand from the Midwest typically rises in the fall and early winter. The return trip north gets busier in spring. Request your quote early for either wave, and give us a flexible pickup window when you can.
You can ask about the spring return when you book the trip south. We quote each direction on its own, then arrange the Florida to Michigan leg when your dates are set.
Open or enclosed transport
Most everyday cars travel on open trailers, which usually cost less. Enclosed transport keeps winter grime and weather off a classic or a car you care about. Compare open and enclosed car shipping.
What it costs and when you pay
Free quote. Your price is an estimate until a carrier accepts your order, and it never goes up without your OK. How pricing works
No payment is collected until the carrier or driver confirms in writing. The agreed spot reservation amount is due to BladeHaul after that confirmation, before pickup. The remaining carrier balance is paid directly to the carrier. Together, these make up your total price, and your written transport agreement sets out the amounts and terms. Read how booking and payment work.
BladeHaul Auto Transport LLC is an FMCSA-authorized property broker, MC-85480782 (USDOT 6803480). We arrange your transport with independent motor carriers; the carrier you approve handles the physical move.
Common questions
What is the average cost to ship a car from Michigan to Florida?
There is no single number: it depends on the exact cities, the vehicle, open or enclosed transport, and the season. Industry surveys and the main price factors are in our car shipping cost guide. For your route, request a free quote. Your quote is an estimate based on current market prices for similar shipments on your route. It can change until a carrier accepts your order, but never without your OK, and you can cancel at no charge if you don't agree. Once a carrier is confirmed, your price is locked in with that carrier. If that carrier cancels, any new price needs your OK too. No hidden fees.
What is the cheapest way to ship a car to Florida?
Open transport, a flexible pickup window, booking ahead of the fall rush, and an easy pickup spot all help keep the price down.
Is it cheaper to drive or ship your car?
Compare a shipping quote with fuel, hotel nights, meals, and the miles added to your car, for the trip down and the trip home. Weather is part of the decision too when you leave in late fall.
Can someone else release or receive my car?
Yes. Tell us who will meet the driver at each end. That person should check the car with the driver and sign the inspection report.
